Privacy Policy

Your quit data should stay close to you.

Meridian is designed as a local-first quit-smoking support app. Your progress, check-ins, cravings, reminders, saved reflections, and Pro access status are used to power the app experience, not to track you.

No advertising tracking Meridian does not use third-party advertising SDKs, data brokers, or cross-app tracking.
Local-first storage Most app data stays on your device unless you choose to export it, share it, contact support, enable iCloud sync, or make a purchase through Apple.
User controls included You can export your data, delete check-in history, reset cravings, reset milestones, or reset all progress in Settings.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how Meridian, the iOS app, handles information when you use the app.

2. Information Meridian handles

Meridian lets you enter and generate quit-smoking support information. The exact data depends on which features you use.

Quit profile Quit date, quit start date, whether you are quitting now or counting down to a quit date, cigarettes per day, price per pack or cigarette, currency, and your selected quit reason.
Health and progress data Smoke-free time, cigarettes avoided, money saved, estimated life regained, milestone progress, achievement state, and derived statistics calculated from your quit profile.
Daily check-ins Check-in date, craving level, mood, trigger, and daily win, including slip-related check-ins when you choose that option.
Cravings and rescue actions Dates and times of logged craving episodes, the source of the log, and dates when rescue actions were completed.
Guided quest content Quest completions, selected quests, timers, trigger logs, reason journals, gratitude entries, habit plans, support-action messages, wind-down targets, pinned or archived memory state, and feedback about whether a memory or quest was helpful.
Reminder settings Whether reminders are enabled, reminder time, reminder style, discreet lock-screen setting, notification interaction counts, last app foreground time, and last risk follow-up scheduling time.
iCloud sync settings Whether iCloud sync is enabled, whether full sync or custom category sync is selected, selected sync categories, and local timestamps used to decide which version is newer.
Purchase and entitlement information Whether Meridian Pro is active, the type of access purchased through Apple, subscription or lifetime entitlement state, product identifiers, transaction verification state, restore status, renewal or expiration information when available, and local timestamps used to keep access current.
Support messages If you email support, we receive the email address you use, the message content, and any files or screenshots you choose to include.
Export files If you export your data, Meridian creates a temporary JSON file containing profile data, a stats snapshot, daily check-ins, craving dates, and seen milestones so you can save or share it.
Device security check Meridian may check locally whether the device appears to be jailbroken and show a warning. This check is performed on the device and is not sent to us.

Based on the current Meridian app, we do not use:

No tracking stack

  • No advertising SDKs
  • No third-party analytics SDKs
  • No data brokers
  • No cross-app tracking
  • No IDFA access

No protected-device access

  • No location access
  • No contacts access
  • No camera access
  • No microphone access
  • No photo library access
  • No HealthKit access

Meridian also does not require an account, login, phone number, real name, or email address to use the app.

Meridian does not receive your full payment-card number, bank details, App Store password, or Apple Account credentials. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store.

4. How Meridian uses information

Meridian uses your app data for these purposes:

Meridian does not use your health, smoking, check-in, craving, or journal data for advertising, marketing profiles, data mining, or sale to third parties.

5. Where your data is stored

On your device

Meridian stores app settings and progress locally using iOS storage such as UserDefaults, protected app files, and the iOS Keychain. Sensitive quit-profile values such as quit date, quit start date, quit reason, and quit mode are stored in the Keychain when available.

Protected files

Some saved quest content, including journals, gratitude entries, habit plans, support actions, wind-down targets, quest feedback, and memory records, is stored in app files using iOS complete file protection.

Optional iCloud sync

If you enable iCloud sync, Meridian stores selected core progress in Apple iCloud Key-Value Store so it can be restored on your Apple devices. You can sync all core progress or choose profile, check-ins, cravings, and achievements individually.

Purchase access state

Meridian may store purchase and entitlement state on your device so the app can keep Pro access active, show the correct screen, and restore access after app launch or reinstall.

No Meridian server account

The current app does not create a Meridian account and does not send your progress data to a Meridian-operated backend server.

6. iCloud sync

iCloud sync is optional and off unless you enable it in Settings. When enabled, Meridian may sync the categories you select:

iCloud is provided by Apple and connected to your Apple Account. Meridian does not operate iCloud and does not receive a copy of your iCloud data through a Meridian server. Apple’s handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple’s terms and privacy policies.

If you reset all progress, Meridian lets you choose whether to reset only this device or reset both this device and the Meridian iCloud backup.

7. Notifications

Meridian asks for notification permission only if you turn on reminders. You can turn reminders off in Meridian Settings or in iOS Settings.

Meridian uses your reminder settings, recent check-in state, craving pattern, last craving, last rescue action, and smoke-free progress to decide when and how to schedule reminders. If discreet lock-screen text is enabled, reminders use generic text instead of detailed craving or progress context.

Notification action counts, such as using “Quick check-in” or “Open Rescue Hub,” are stored locally to help Meridian understand which reminder actions you use. These counts are not sent to us.

8. Sharing, export, clipboard, and support

Export

If you choose “Export my data,” Meridian creates a temporary JSON export file on your device. The file may include quit profile data, calculated statistics, check-ins, craving dates, and milestone state. You choose where to save or share that file through the iOS share sheet.

Share sheet and clipboard

Some guided quests let you share or copy support messages. If you use the iOS share sheet, the app or service you select receives the content you choose to share. If you tap “Copy message,” the message is placed on the iOS clipboard so you can paste it elsewhere.

Support email

If you contact support at dev@novakbozovic.com, we use your email and message content to respond and troubleshoot. Do not include sensitive information in support emails unless you want us to receive it.

9. Purchases, subscriptions, and StoreKit

Meridian uses Apple StoreKit to offer paid access, verify purchases, manage subscription or lifetime entitlement status, and restore purchases. Monthly and annual access are handled as Apple auto-renewable subscriptions. Lifetime Access is handled as a one-time non-consumable in-app purchase through Apple.

When you make or restore a purchase, Apple processes the payment and provides Meridian with purchase and entitlement information needed to unlock Pro access. This may include product identifiers, transaction identifiers or verification results, subscription state, renewal or expiration information when available, and whether a lifetime purchase is active.

Meridian does not receive your full payment-card number, bank account details, App Store password, Apple Account credentials, or complete billing address. App Store billing, taxes, refunds, payment methods, subscription cancellation, and payment disputes are handled by Apple.

Meridian uses purchase information only to provide paid access, prevent access errors, restore purchases, troubleshoot purchase issues, comply with App Store requirements, and maintain accurate app functionality.

10. Third parties and service providers

The current Meridian app does not include third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or non-Apple payment SDKs. Paid access is processed through Apple StoreKit and the App Store.

Data may be handled by third parties only when you choose to use services outside Meridian, including:

We require any service provider that receives personal information from us to protect it consistently with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

12. Retention and deletion

Because Meridian is local-first, most app data stays on your device until you delete it, reset it, uninstall the app, or erase the device. Some app data is automatically limited:

If you email support, we retain the support message as long as needed to respond, maintain support records, and meet legal or operational needs. You can request deletion of support correspondence by emailing dev@novakbozovic.com.

14. Children

Meridian is not directed to children. The app is intended for users who are legally old enough in their location to use smoking-cessation support tools. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

15. Security

Meridian uses iOS security features such as the Keychain and complete file protection for certain stored data. No app or storage method can guarantee absolute security, especially if a device is jailbroken, compromised, shared, or not protected with a passcode.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when Meridian’s features, data practices, legal requirements, or support processes change. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last changed.
